Suwon Special City conducted meticulous inspections at 122 locations… Intensive safety inspections rank 1st among 31 cities and counties in Gyeonggi Province
[News S = Reporter Cheon Ui-hyun] Suwon Special City in Gyeonggi Province announced that it ranked 1st among 31 cities and counties in Gyeonggi Province in the evaluation of '2026 Intensive Safety Inspection Implementation Results.' Yongin City and Ansan City recorded 2nd and 3rd place, respectively.
Suwon City conducted inspections at 122 locations across 25 facility types over 61 days from April 20 to June 19. The inspection targets comprised 37 facilities delegated by central government ministries, 78 facilities selected by local governments, and 7 facilities subject to citizen inspection requests—the most among cities and counties in Gyeonggi Province. A total of 723 people participated in the inspections, including 263 government officials, 337 private sector experts, and 123 construction-related personnel and citizens.
As a result of the inspections, 57 locations showed no issues, while 65 locations required remedial measures. Of these, 39 locations have completed repairs, 17 locations are scheduled to complete repairs and reinforcement in the second half of this year, and 9 locations are scheduled to complete them by 2027.
Suwon City will be prioritized as a candidate for outstanding cities and counties in the government commendation for intensive safety inspections. An official from Suwon City stated, "Through continuous inspections and preventive activities, we will create a safe city where citizens can live with confidence."
