Yangju City Holds Policy Discussion Meeting with Gyeonggi Province Assemblymen to Secure National and Provincial Budgets

Yangju City held a policy discussion meeting with Gyeonggi Province Assembly members at the situation room on the 2nd floor of city hall on the 21st, and discussed cooperation methods to facilitate the smooth implementation of key regional issues and secure national and provincial budgets.

Attending the meeting were Yangju Mayor Jung Deok-young, along with Gyeonggi Province Assemblymen Chae Jung-sun, Jung Seok-won, and Choi Su-yeon, and heads of divisions, departments, and offices of Yangju City.

The city explained 29 projects including 7 major national and provincial projects and 22 major provincial projects, and requested active interest and support from the Gyeonggi Province Assembly for smooth project implementation.

Major national and provincial budget projects include △promotion of Yangju Hoewamsa Site world heritage registration △construction of Dobongsan~Okjeong metropolitan railroad △construction of Okjeong~Pocheon metropolitan railroad △Seoul metropolitan rapid transit (GTX) C line (Deokjeong~Suwon) △securing public hospital beds for establishing a mental emergency response system in Yangju City, and others.

Major provincial projects include △support projects for areas surrounding military bases △youth work experience pilot project for social economy △small-scale dredging projects for local rivers △Sanbook urban regeneration project △support for emergency medical care coverage in the northeastern region △Gyeonggi Province agricultural and fishery worker opportunity income support, and others.

The attendees reviewed the necessity and implementation status of projects centered on those closely related to citizens' lives, and discussed practical solutions including national and provincial budget securing and institutional improvements. They also agreed to continue communicating and cooperating for regional development going forward.

Yangju Mayor Jung Deok-young stated, "For Yangju City's continuous growth and improvement of citizens' quality of life, timely resolution of key issues and securing stable financial resources are most important," adding, "We will make our best efforts to secure national and provincial budgets and resolve outstanding issues by working closely with Gyeonggi Province Assembly members so that the projects discussed today can lead to outcomes that citizens can feel."
