Pyeongtaek Citizens' Grievance Handling Committee Operates 'Mobile Grievance Counseling Day'
The Pyeongtaek Citizens' Grievance Handling Committee (Mayor Choi Won-yong) is operating a 'Mobile Grievance Counseling Day' from August through October at 16 district administrative welfare centers, where committee members visit citizens' locations directly to listen to their grievances and seek solutions together.
This counseling session targets citizens experiencing inconvenience due to administrative dispositions or administrative systems of Pyeongtaek City, or those facing difficulties with long-unresolved civil complaints. Citizens' Grievance Handling Committee members will provide on-site counseling and support resolutions through reviews and coordination with relevant departments when necessary.
Counseling will proceed according to schedule, and citizens can visit without separate application. Citizens seeking smooth counseling can apply in advance by visiting their respective district administrative welfare centers or the Citizens' Grievance Handling Committee.
Those unable to attend counseling on scheduled operating days can file grievance complaints anytime during weekday business hours (09:00~18:00) at the Pyeongtaek City Hall Citizens' Grievance Handling Committee or through the Pyeongtaek City website online.
Reviewing major grievance resolution cases by the Pyeongtaek Citizens' Grievance Handling Committee, one case involved a Pyeongtaek resident (farmer) who filed an objection to being excluded from disaster support for an agricultural warehouse due to heavy snow damage. Through multiple consultations and coordination with the complainant and Pyeongtaek City relevant departments, the case was resolved in approximately four months when the city recognized the applicant as a heavy snow-damaged farm and, based on regulations, expressed its opinion to provide support.
Additionally, in a grievance complaint case where a female head of household on basic livelihood assistance with Parkinson's disease objected to a reduction in benefits, after comprehensive review of relevant materials by Pyeongtaek City's competent department and investigation of the complainant's living conditions and illness status, the committee determined the complainant's claims to have substantial merit and resolved the grievance through an opinion statement to the city.
According to the Pyeongtaek Citizens' Grievance Handling Committee's operational performance for 2025, there were 4 opinion statements for acceptance (resolution), 1 administrative recommendation, 25 settlements, and 70 counseling guidance cases, totaling 216 cases handled, achieving substantial results.
Shin Dong-taek, Representative Citizens' Grievance Handling Committee Member, stated, "We will make efforts to examine the inconveniences faced by citizens from a citizen's perspective rather than an administrative agency's standpoint, and to find practical solutions at the site." He added, "We hope for the active interest and participation of citizens in need of counseling."
