Gwangmyeong City Establishes Citizen Health Education Cooperation with Medical Organizations and Healthcare Institutions
Gwangmyeong City (Mayor Park Seung-won) is establishing a citizen health education cooperation system in collaboration with local medical organizations and healthcare institutions.
On the 21st, the city signed a memorandum of understanding for the 'Gwangmyeong City Health Education City Project' at the City Hall Conference Room with four medical associations—Gwangmyeong Medical Association, Dental Association, Oriental Medicine Association, and Pharmaceutical Association—and two healthcare institutions—Chung-Ang University Gwangmyeong Hospital and Gwangmyeong Sungae Hospital.
This agreement was promoted to provide citizens with more specialized health education by utilizing local professional medical resources and to establish a foundation for community health education cooperation.
Under the agreement, participating institutions will work together on △operating health education and health lectures for citizens △recommending and supporting expert instructors △providing specialized knowledge and educational materials related to health and advising on educational content △cooperating on related projects for citizen health promotion.
Based on the agreement, the city will operate a total of four health lectures, with at least one per region, targeting Gwangmyeong citizens from October to November.
The lectures will cover the topics of △frailty prevention and chronic disease management for healthy aging △understanding and safely using medications △proper oral care and gum health △health stories shared by Oriental medicine doctors.
The lectures will cover health information applicable to daily life, ranging from chronic disease management such as hypertension and diabetes to prevention of medication misuse, oral care, seasonal health management, and musculoskeletal pain management.
Gwangmyeong Mayor Park Seung-won stated, "We have prepared education that will help citizens manage their health in daily life together with local medical specialists," and added, "We will create a healthy environment together with the community so that citizens can obtain accurate health information and take care of their own health."
