Hwaseong Special City Creates Toy Recycling Center at Dongtan 'Aimshim Playground'
Hwaseong Special City (Mayor Jung Myung-geun) signed an MOU on the 21st at the Central Conference Room on the second floor of City Hall with the Hwaseong City Environmental Foundation, Hyundai Marine and Fire Insurance Co., Ltd., Root Impact Association, and Elephant Factory Co., Ltd. for 'promoting resource circulation and creating Aimshim Playground.'
This agreement was established to link public infrastructure, corporate social contribution, and the expertise of specialized organizations to promote the reuse and recycling of discarded toys, and to create a space where children and families can directly experience and learn the value of resource circulation.
The signing ceremony was attended by Mayor Jung Myung-geun of Hwaseong Special City, Representative Director Jung Seung-ho of the Hwaseong City Environmental Foundation, Vice President Jung Kyung-sun of Hyundai Marine and Fire Insurance, Secretary General Kim Sang-woo of Root Impact, and Representative Lee Chae-jin of Elephant Factory.
According to the agreement, the five organizations agreed to cooperate on ▲expanding resource circulation culture ▲operating environmental education and experience programs ▲discovering public interest programs ▲creating and operating the recycling center at Dongtan Lake branch and Aimshim Playground, etc.
By organization, Hwaseong Special City will oversee administrative support for project implementation, and the Hwaseong City Environmental Foundation will manage space operations. Hyundai Marine and Fire Insurance will sponsor facility construction and operations, Root Impact will handle facility construction and project performance management, and Elephant Factory will manage facility and program operations, with each organization planning to implement the project based on their expertise.
Aimshim Playground will be created on the basement level 1 of the Dongtan Lake Park Parking Tower. Here, a resource circulation space will be operated where discarded toys are collected, repaired, and made available for reuse, along with experience and play spaces for children and families. Additionally, linked with senior employment opportunities, it is planned to develop into a community public project in which multiple generations participate together, not only in resource circulation.
Mayor Jung Myung-geun of Hwaseong Special City stated, "It is significant that new value is added to toys that could otherwise be discarded, and children can naturally learn the importance of resource circulation through play and experience," and added, "I hope Aimshim Playground will establish itself as a space where multiple generations from children to seniors participate together to learn and practice the value of resource circulation."
