Hwaseong Special City (Mayor Jung Myeong-geun) signed a memorandum of understanding on the 21st at the City Hall Conference Room on the 2nd floor with Hwaseong City Environmental Foundation, Hyundai Marine and Fire Insurance Co., Ltd., Root Impact Association, and Elephant Factory Co., Ltd. for 'promoting circular economy and creating the Aimashim Playground.'

This agreement was established to activate the reuse and recycling of discarded toys by linking public infrastructure, corporate social contribution, and the expertise of specialized organizations, and to create a space where children and families can directly experience and learn the value of circular economy.

The signing ceremony was attended by Jung Myeong-geun, Mayor of Hwaseong Special City; Jung Seung-ho, Representative Director of Hwaseong City Environmental Foundation; Jung Gyeong-seon, Vice President of Hyundai Marine and Fire Insurance; Kim Sang-woo, Secretary General of Root Impact; and Lee Chae-jin, CEO of Elephant Factory.

According to the agreement, the five organizations will cooperate on ▲spreading circular economy culture ▲operating environmental education and experience programs ▲discovering public interest programs ▲creating and operating a recycling center at Dongtan Lake and the Aimashim Playground.

By organization, Hwaseong Special City will oversee administrative support for project implementation, while Hwaseong City Environmental Foundation will handle facility operations. Hyundai Marine and Fire Insurance will sponsor facility construction and operations, Root Impact will be responsible for facility construction and project performance management, and Elephant Factory will manage facility and program operations, with each organization's expertise guiding project implementation.

The Aimashim Playground will be created on the B1 level of the Dongtan Lake Park Parking Tower. Here, plans call for operating a circular economy space where discarded toys are collected, repaired, and reused, as well as experience and play spaces for children and families. Additionally, linked to senior employment opportunities, the project plans to develop into a community public project where multiple generations participate together, going beyond just circular economy.

Mayor Jung Myeong-geun of Hwaseong Special City said, "It is significant that toys that could be discarded are given new value, and children can naturally learn the importance of circular economy through play and experience," and added, "I hope the Aimashim Playground will establish itself as a space where multiple generations from children to seniors participate together, learning and practicing the value of circular economy."
