Yongin Special City Extends Water Park Operations Until September 6
Yongin Special City (Mayor Lee Sang-il) announced on the 21st that it will extend operations of the Yongin Youth Training Center water park in Yangji-eup, Cheogin-gu, a popular destination for cooling off from the heat, through September 6.
The water park's original operating period was from July 17 to August 23, but due to the prolonged heat despite the arrival of Cheoseok, visitor numbers increased. Consequently, the Yongin Youth Future Foundation, which operates the training center, decided to run the water park for an additional 14 days.
During the extended period, on weekdays the facility will serve groups of 100 or more, while on weekends it will accommodate individual and family visitors. The facility will be closed on Mondays for maintenance.
Operating hours are from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., with a break period from noon to 1 p.m.
The water park features a 70-meter-high Everslide, two large water play areas measuring 20 meters by 10 meters, and two infant water play areas for young children. Family changing rooms, sunbeds, and shaded rest areas are also available.
Last December, the city amended the "Yongin Youth Facility Installation and Operation" ordinance, allowing a 40% reduction in admission fees to the Youth Training Center's swimming pool and sledding hill for Yongin residents and organizations based in the city starting this January.
As a result, from July 17 to August 21 this year (36 days), the water park attracted 8,774 visitors, 2,292 more than the 6,482 visitors during the same period last year.
A city official stated, "Due to this year's record-breaking heat wave and the 40% admission discount benefit provided to Yongin residents, many citizens have visited the Youth Training Center water park." The official added, "With the support of residents, we are extending the operating period, and we hope citizens will enjoy cooling off at the water park during these final hot days."
