Yongin Special City Extends Youth Training Center Water Park Operations Through September 6
Yongin Special City (Mayor Lee Sang-il) announced on the 21st that it will extend operations of the Yongin Youth Training Center Water Park in Yangji-eup, Cheogin-gu, a popular summer vacation destination, through September 6.
The water park was originally scheduled to operate from July 17 to August 23. However, due to the prolonged heat wave despite the arrival of Chusuk, visitor numbers increased, prompting the Yongin Youth Future Foundation, which operates the facility, to decide to extend operations for an additional 14 days.
During the extended period, the facility will open to groups of 100 or more on weekdays and to individual or family visitors on weekends. The water park will remain closed on Mondays for facility maintenance.
Operating hours are from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., with a break time from noon to 1 p.m.
The water park features an Everslide that stands 70 meters high, two large water play areas measuring 20 meters wide and 10 meters deep, and two toddler water play areas for infants and young children. Amenities include family changing rooms, sunbeds, and shaded rest areas.
In late last year, the city amended the ordinance on ‘Installation and Operation of Yongin Youth Facilities,’ implementing a 40% discount on swimming pool and sledding facility fees at the Yongin Youth Training Center for Yongin residents and organizations based in the city starting January of this year.
As a result, from July 17 to August 21 this year (36 days), the water park attracted 8,774 visitors, 2,292 more than the 6,482 visitors during the same period last year.
A city official stated, “The record-breaking heat wave this year has prolonged summer heat, and coupled with the 40% admission discount benefit for Yongin residents, many citizens have visited the youth training center water park. With the public's support, we have extended the operating period, and we encourage residents to enjoy the remaining summer heat refreshingly at the water park.”
