Gyeonggi Province Future Generation Foundation Selects 'Hidden Light Youth' as New Name for Isolated and Reclusive Young Adults
The Gyeonggi Province Future Generation Foundation announced on the 21st that it has selected 'Hidden Light Youth' as the representative name following the judging results of the 'New Name Contest for Isolated and Reclusive Young Adults.'
The contest was established to alleviate negative perceptions stemming from the term 'isolated and reclusive young adults' and to discover a new name that focuses on young people's potential and recovery.
From July 6 to 24, a total of 1,518 people proposed 3,309 new names, and following expert review and online public voting, the representative name 'Hidden Light Youth' and the commendable names 'Daily Recovery Preparation Youth' and 'Coming Out Youth' were selected.
'Hidden Light' carries the meaning that every young person, though not yet revealed, possesses their own light and potential. 'Daily Recovery Preparation' refers to the process of recovery in preparation to resume ordinary life, and 'Coming Out Youth' is a double meaning expressing both 'coming out into the world' and 'with me,' encompassing the significance of new beginnings and companionship.
The selected names will henceforth be used in promotional activities and awareness improvement initiatives for support programs for isolated and reclusive young adults conducted by the Gyeonggi Province Future Generation Foundation.
Kim Hyun-sam, Representative Director of the Gyeonggi Province Future Generation Foundation, stated, 'This will serve as an opportunity to view isolated and reclusive young adults from the perspective of possibility and recovery rather than disconnection or negative views,' and added, 'We will continue to broaden social empathy that understands and supports isolated and reclusive young adults together.'
