Gyeonggi Province Future Generation Foundation Selects 'Youth with Hidden Light' as New Name for Isolated and Withdrawn Youth
The Gyeonggi Province Future Generation Foundation announced on the 21st that it has selected 'Youth with Hidden Light' as the representative name following the judging results of the 'New Name Contest for Isolated and Withdrawn Youth.'
The contest was organized to alleviate negative perceptions stemming from the term 'isolated and withdrawn youth' and to discover a new name that focuses on youth potential and recovery.
From July 6 to 24, a total of 1,518 people proposed 3,309 new names. Through expert review and online public voting, the representative name 'Youth with Hidden Light' and excellent names 'Youth Preparing for Daily Life Recovery' and 'Youth Coming Out into the World' were selected.
'Hidden Light' conveys the meaning that every young person possesses their own light and potential, even if not yet revealed. 'Preparing for Daily Life Recovery' refers to the process of recovery in preparation for returning to ordinary life, while 'Youth Coming Out into the World' carries a double meaning of both 'coming out into the world' and 'with me,' encompassing the significance of new beginnings and companionship.
The selected names will be used in promotional activities and awareness improvement campaigns for support projects for isolated and withdrawn youth conducted by the Gyeonggi Province Future Generation Foundation going forward.
Kim Hyun-sam, Representative Director of the Gyeonggi Province Future Generation Foundation, stated, "This will be an opportunity to view isolated and withdrawn youth from the perspective of possibility and recovery rather than disconnection or negative perception," and added, "We will continue to broaden social consensus in understanding and supporting isolated and withdrawn youth together."
