Byeongjeom-gu District, Hwaseong Special City Refreshes Aging Metal Tree Guards with Artificial Turf Protectors

Byeongjeom-gu District, Hwaseong Special City announced on the 21st that it has replaced aging metal street tree guards with artificial turf protectors to enhance pedestrian safety and create a pleasant street environment.

The existing metal tree guards had corroded or been damaged over their long period of use, with some becoming loose and causing inconvenience to pedestrians while raising safety concerns. The deteriorated guards have also been criticized for damaging the urban landscape.

The newly installed artificial turf protectors feature a softer and cleaner appearance compared to the existing metal guards and blend naturally with the street trees and surrounding scenery. Byeongjeom-gu District expects that this maintenance work will enhance pedestrian safety while creating a more pleasant and well-maintained street environment.

Lee Taek-gu, District Chief of Byeongjeom-gu, stated, "Though tree guards are small facilities, they are closely related to the pedestrian environment that citizens traverse daily," and added, "I hope this maintenance project will help enhance pedestrian safety and create a pleasant street environment where street trees and surrounding scenery are in harmony."

Byeongjeom-gu District plans to continue carefully inspecting and maintaining facilities around residential areas that threaten pedestrian safety or damage the urban landscape, so that citizens can enjoy a safer and more pleasant pedestrian environment in their daily lives.
