Byeongjeom-gu District of Hwaseong Special City Renovates Worn Metal Tree Guards with Artificial Turf Protectors

Byeongjeom-gu District of Hwaseong Special City announced on the 21st that it has replaced worn metal tree guards with artificial turf protectors to enhance pedestrian safety and create a pleasant street environment.

The existing metal tree guards, after prolonged use, became corroded, damaged, and partially lifted, causing inconvenience to pedestrians and raising concerns about safety accidents. The deteriorated guards have also been criticized for diminishing the city's landscape aesthetics.

The newly installed artificial turf protectors are characterized by a softer and neater appearance compared to the existing metal guards, and they blend naturally with the street trees and surrounding scenery. Through this maintenance project, Byeongjeom-gu expects to enhance pedestrian safety while creating a more pleasant and well-organized street environment.

Lee Taek-gu, head of Byeongjeom-gu District, stated, “Tree guards are small facilities, but they are closely related to the pedestrian environment that citizens pass through daily,” and added, “I hope this maintenance project will help enhance pedestrian safety and create a pleasant street environment where street trees and surrounding landscapes harmonize.”

Going forward, Byeongjeom-gu plans to carefully inspect and maintain facilities that threaten pedestrian safety or damage the city landscape in residential areas, enabling citizens to enjoy a safer and more pleasant pedestrian environment in their daily lives.
