Councilor Kim Eun-soo Inspects Safe School Route at Songjeong Elementary School in Suwon Special City
Councilor Kim Eun-soo of the Suwon Special City Council (People Power Party, Pajang·Songjuk·Jowon 2) visited Songjeong Elementary School on the 20th to conduct an on-site inspection aimed at creating a safe commuting environment for students and addressing pending issues surrounding the school.
This site visit was undertaken to directly examine garbage accumulation issues occurring on the school route near Songjeong Elementary School, as well as environmental and pedestrian conditions near the school, in order to develop improvement measures.
Councilor Kim examined the garbage accumulation situation around the old pine tree area near Songjeong Elementary School and emphasized the need to check cleaning and management systems to ensure a more pleasant and safe environment, given that the school route is used daily by students.
Additionally, he requested consideration of installing informational signs about the history of the old pine tree and King Jeongjo to help students and citizens easily understand the historical significance of the pine tree located near the school. The intent is not merely to preserve an old tree, but to utilize it as a local historical and cultural resource, turning it into an educational space for students and a destination visited by residents. He also requested additional review of safety measures such as reinforcing safety fences in front of the school.
Councilor Kim stated, "Since school routes that students use daily can have even minor inconveniences directly linked to safety, it is important to examine and improve conditions on-site." He added, "From addressing garbage accumulation issues to improving pedestrian environments and installing informational facilities that raise awareness of local historical value, I will continuously coordinate with relevant departments to ensure these efforts translate into tangible changes that both students and residents can experience."
