Gyeonggi Province Council Democratic Party Examines Next Year's Budget 'Fiscal Soundness' Starting Now

The Gyeonggi Province Council Democratic Party's Fiscal Soundness TF (Co-chairs: Jang Han-byeol, Overall Chief, and Kim Tae-hee, Policy Committee Chair) held a 'Policy Forum on Gyeonggi Province Fiscal Diagnosis and Improvement Tasks' at the main conference room on the 20th.

The forum was arranged to comprehensively diagnose Gyeonggi Province's fiscal conditions and financial management, and to explore sustainable fiscal stabilization measures with fiscal experts and the Gyeonggi Province Council working together.

Prior to the forum, Representative An Gwang-ryul stated, "The 'Gyeonggi Province Council Democratic Party's Fiscal Soundness TF,' which launched on July 29th, has been diligently working toward the goal of sustainable fiscal stabilization that protects residents' lives," adding, "I hope the insights and proposals discussed here will serve as a reliable compass for the Democratic Party's future fiscal policies and in the September supplementary budget review and 2027 main budget deliberations. The Democratic Party will focus all its capabilities to ensure these can lead to substantive institutional improvements and budget efficiency."

At the forum, Kim Tae-hee, co-chair, served as moderator, and Professor Ra Hui-moon of Sungkyul University's Department of Public Administration gave a keynote presentation titled 'Gyeonggi Province Fiscal Diagnosis and Sustainable Fiscal Soundness Plans.'

Following this, Professor Shin Yu-ho from Dankook University's Graduate School of Public Management, Deputy Research Fellow Choi Jung-woo from the Korea Local Administration Research Institute's Local Finance Research Center, Lee Chae-myeong, Chair of Gyeonggi Province Office of Education's Budget and Accounting Special Committee, and Seo Bong-seok, Director of the Budget Analysis Division of Gyeonggi Province Council, served as panelists and engaged in spirited discussion.

Co-chair Jang Han-byeol stated, "Since various meaningful alternatives regarding the diagnosis of Gyeonggi Province's fiscal situation and solutions have been derived from today's forum, we plan to organize the contents well and announce a comprehensive diagnosis and solutions regarding Gyeonggi Province's overall finances."

Co-chair Kim Tae-hee also said, "Through three rounds of meetings and policy forums, response measures to resolve fiscal issues have been explored to a certain extent," adding, "The Fiscal Soundness TF will hold one more meeting to prepare measures that both the council and Gyeonggi Province can take together to resolve fiscal problems."
