Gyeonggi Province held a '2026 Special Training on Sexual Harassment and Violence Prevention for Senior Civil Servants' on the 20th at the Dasan Hall of Gyeonggi Provincial Government, with approximately 200 senior officials including Governor Choo Mee-ae, vice governors, and department heads in attendance.

The training was designed to raise the sense of responsibility among senior civil servants regarding sexual harassment and violence within the organization and to establish an organizational culture based on mutual respect and gender equality. The training was conducted by Jang Jae-sung, a professor in the Department of Police Administration at Keimyung University and a specialist in integrated violence prevention education.

Governor Choo Mee-ae stated in her opening remarks, "While awareness in our society continues to improve steadily, if we do not regularly listen to lectures like this, unintended incidents can snowball into major cases. A good workplace culture can flourish only when we prevent incidents that should not happen or are unintended."

She then referenced her nickname 'Choo D'Arc,' saying, "Even with such a nickname, would I not feel uncomfortable if someone treated me disrespectfully? That is not the case. I have always been troubled about what wise measures could be taken to inform someone if they do not notice and correct their behavior."

She continued, "I believe we must resolve these issues quickly so they do not accumulate as work-related stress. I hope that in Gyeonggi Province, there will not be any incidents that cause workplace stress," while noting that the province is establishing a direct reporting system to the governor to address such matters.

Going forward, Gyeonggi Province plans to strengthen sexual harassment and violence prevention training based on the principles of victim protection and swift, strict case responses, and will continue to pursue measures to raise managers' sense of responsibility and establish a gender-equal civil service culture.
