Suwon Special City (Mayor Lee Jae-jun) is collaborating with the Suwon Special City Korean Medicine Association to expand the beneficiaries of the 'Postpartum Care Herbal Medicine Discount Program' from September 1st to include all women giving birth and pregnant women with miscarriage or stillbirth at 16 weeks of pregnancy or later.

Suwon City and the Suwon Special City Korean Medicine Association signed a 'Business Agreement for Expanding the Postpartum Care Herbal Medicine Discount Program' at Suwon City Hall on the 19th and pledged cooperation. The signing ceremony was attended by Kim Eun-ju, head of the Women and Family Division at Suwon City, and Kang Seo-won, president of the Suwon Special City Korean Medicine Association.

Through this agreement, the postpartum care herbal medicine discount benefit, which was previously available only to women giving birth to a second child or later, will be expanded to all women giving birth to a first child or later. Pregnant women who have experienced miscarriage or stillbirth at 16 weeks of pregnancy or later are also newly included as eligible recipients.

Eligible recipients can receive a 100,000 won discount when they have postpartum care herbal medicine of 250,000 won or more dispensed. The discount amount is fully sponsored by Korean medicine clinics participating in the program.

Women giving birth can obtain a 'Postpartum Care Herbal Medicine Discount Certificate' from the administrative welfare center in their respective dong and submit it to a participating Korean medicine clinic in the city. Information about the expanded eligible recipients and application procedures will be available at the administrative welfare centers from September 1st.

Suwon City and the Suwon Special City Korean Medicine Association have agreed to cooperate based on this agreement to support the health recovery of women giving birth and pregnant women with miscarriage or stillbirth, and to create a society that is conducive to childbirth.

Kang Seo-won, president of the Suwon Special City Korean Medicine Association, said, "I am pleased to expand this meaningful program that helps mothers recover their health together with Suwon City," adding, "We will cooperate with participating Korean medicine clinics to provide quality medical services."

Kim Eun-ju, head of the Women and Family Division at Suwon City, said, "I am grateful to the Suwon Special City Korean Medicine Association for bearing the full discount amount and contributing to the expansion of the program," and added, "We will work closely with the local community to create a birth-friendly city of Suwon where people can have and raise children."

Suwon City and the Suwon Special City Korean Medicine Association have been carrying on the program since signing a postpartum care herbal medicine discount agreement in 2013.
