[News S = Reporter Cheon Ui-hyun] Gwangmyeong City, Gyeonggi Province announced on the 18th that it will activate a system to inspect safety throughout the entire construction process until the completion of the Shin-Ansan Line.

The city held a ‘Joint Declaration Ceremony for Citizen Safety’ with citizen representatives and POSCO E&C in the city hall conference room on the same day, reaching consensus on establishing and operating a safety management system.

Gwangmyeong Mayor Park Seung-won, citizen representative Kim Gwang-woong, and Kim Dae-hyun, project director of POSCO E&C for the Shin-Ansan Line, signed the declaration. POSCO E&C committed to implementing recurrence prevention measures through responsible construction applying the highest safety standards; the city will operate a peace-of-mind verification system alongside administrative support; and citizen representatives will directly inspect the site and examine and propose risk factors.

The private sector, government, and civil society agreed to formalize the ‘Citizen Peace-of-Mind On-Site Confirmation Day’ to jointly inspect major construction phases and safety management status. Mayor Park stated, “Prioritizing citizen trust and safety, we will develop a nation-leading citizen-participatory safety management model.”
