Gwacheon City Expands Installation of Solar-Powered Wireless Bus Information Displays (BIT)

Gwacheon City announced that it has expanded the installation of solar-powered wireless bus information displays (BIT) that can be installed without electrical or telecommunications construction work to 15 village bus stops.

On the 21st, Gwacheon City completed the "Solar-Powered Wireless BIT Expansion Installation Project" targeting village bus stops where electrical and telecommunications work is difficult. Village bus stops had remained blind spots in transportation information services due to constraints in electrical and telecommunications construction.

Previously, the city conducted a pilot installation of solar BIT at five locations last year and confirmed stable operation before proceeding with project expansion. The project involved an investment of 190 million won, with solar BIT installed at 15 locations including Exit 1 of Gyeongma Park Station.

According to effectiveness analysis, an annual reduction of approximately 679 kg of greenhouse gas emissions is expected. Budget savings of approximately 350 million won are anticipated through a 64% reduction in operating costs and 93% reduction in carbon emissions over 10 years.

Meanwhile, this project was selected for the Procurement Service's 2026 Innovative Product Pilot Purchase Project, with an additional 10 locations scheduled for installation by December this year.
