Suwon Metropolitan City Wins Grand Prize at Gyeonggi Province 'Active Administration Excellence Case Competition'
Suwon Metropolitan City (Mayor Lee Jae-jun) won the grand prize at the "2026 Active Administration Excellence Case Competition" hosted by Gyeonggi Province at the Gyeonggi Art Center Convention Hall on the 11th, presenting its case of "Nation's First! Automated Mail-Linked Integrated and Customized Electronic Notice."
In this year's main competition, 18 cases from 8 municipalities and 10 public institutions that passed preliminary rounds advanced. Suwon competed in Group A alongside Namyangju, Goyang, and Hwaseong cities and was selected for the grand prize.
Suwon City presented the case of automated mail-linked "Integrated and Customized Electronic Notice" developed by the Tax and Revenue Department for the first time in the nation. This is an active administration case that improved the delivery system by automatically linking postal mail and electronic notices, making it more convenient for residents to confirm administrative notices.
By linking electronic notices with non-face-to-face participation guidance during resident registration verification surveys, the city significantly raised the non-face-to-face participation rate and reduced on-site visits by community leaders by 2.5 million cases compared to 2024. Recognizing the excellence of the policy, the Ministry of the Interior and Safety is promoting its dissemination and adoption across local governments nationwide.
Additionally, the city shortened the period for receiving parking violation fine notices from more than 10 days to 3 days. A system was established where mobile dispatch and paper notices to those who have not read the electronic notice are automatically processed, enhancing citizen convenience and work efficiency.
For the first time in the nation, Suwon introduced a mobile voice notice service for the visually impaired, enabling them to immediately access administrative information.
Suwon City expanded the scope of mobile notices from the existing 4 types to 33 types, enhancing citizen convenience and administrative efficiency, while also achieving annual cost savings of over 500 million won in postage expenses.
A Suwon City official stated, "We are pleased to receive recognition for our efforts to improve administrative procedures from the perspective of citizens," and added, "We will continue to pursue innovative active administration that citizens can feel in their daily lives."
