Hwaseong Special City (Mayor Jeong Myeong-geun) invited coaches and players from Hwaseong City Little Baseball Team who participated as the Republic of Korea U-13 national team in the "2026 Little League Intermediate World Series" on the 20th at the City Hall Central Conference Room to encourage them for their contribution to winning the championship.

At the event, four people attended including Lee Il-nam, manager of Hwaseong City Little Baseball Team A (Dongtan) who served as the national team manager, Kim Jin-soo, manager of C Team (Western) who worked as a national team coach, and players Kim Jung-am and Kim Gang-min who participated as national team members.

Mayor Jeong Myeong-geun shared the tournament process and impressions with the players and coaches, presented a commemorative baseball autographed by him, and congratulated them on achieving the world's top position.

The Little League Intermediate World Series is an international competition for 13-year-old players, serving as a bridge between little league and adult baseball. It was held in Livermore, California from the 2nd to the 9th of last month.

The Korean national team advanced to the main tournament by posting a 6-0 record in the Asia-Pacific preliminary round. Subsequently, they defeated Puerto Rico 13-8 in the International Finals, and then dominated the U.S. Western representative team 11-4 in the World Series Championship Finals to claim the top position.

With this, the Korean national team reclaimed the World Series championship after 3 years and achieved their fourth overall victory. In particular, two coaches and two players from Hwaseong City Little Baseball Team proved the competitiveness of Hwaseong's youth baseball on the world stage.

Hwaseong Special City supports the development of youth baseball by operating Little Baseball Teams A, B, C, and U-16 Team, enabling young players to train and develop their skills in a stable environment. Additionally, it operates Hwaseong Dream Park, the largest little baseball stadium in Korea, providing a foundation for youth players to train systematically and grow.

Mayor Jeong Myeong-geun of Hwaseong Special City said, "I sincerely offer my congratulations to the coaches and players who reached the world's top position wearing the Taegeuk mark," and "It is even more meaningful that players who honed their skills in Hwaseong and the coaches who guided them contributed to the Korean national team's championship victory."
