Gyeonggi Province discusses advanced industry expansion with Arizona
Gyeonggi Province discussed ways to expand cooperation between local governments with Arizona in advanced industry sectors.
Park Keun-gyun, director of International Cooperation of Gyeonggi Province, met on the 14th at Gyeonggi Provincial Government with Agnese Sturmane, Vice President of Arizona Commerce Authority (ACA), Michael Finn, Vice Mayor of Peoria, and Sean Fogarty, Vice President of Greater Phoenix Economic Council, to discuss practical cooperation between local governments in advanced industry sectors including semiconductor supply chain and corporate and investment cooperation.
Director Park Keun-gyun stated, "Gyeonggi Province and Arizona are regions with world-class advanced industry ecosystems, and if we leverage each other's strengths, we can create even greater synergies. We hope this meeting will serve as an opportunity to expand exchanges in the advanced industry sector and lead to substantive economic cooperation."
In response, Agnese Sturmane, Vice President of Arizona Commerce Authority, said, "Arizona values its cooperative relationship with Gyeonggi Province, and based on the strengths of both regions, we look forward to expanding exchanges between companies and institutions and creating continuous cooperative achievements."
Arizona is a global hub for advanced industries with concentrated global semiconductor companies including OnSemi, Amkor headquarters, TSMC, and Intel, and recently has been selected as the long-term host for SEMICON West, North America's largest semiconductor industry exhibition, further elevating its status as a global semiconductor center.
Peoria is being developed with Amkor's largest advanced packaging manufacturing facility in North America, and the Greater Phoenix Economic Council (GPEC) plays an important role in expanding Arizona's industrial ecosystem through attracting global companies and supporting investments.
Previously, Gyeonggi Province signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for friendly cooperation with Arizona in 2024 and has continued exchanges between local governments. The province expects this meeting to serve as an opportunity to make cooperation between the two regions more concrete and lead to substantive results.
