Suwon Special City Council (Chairman Kim Mi-kyung) visited the Suwon Agricultural and Fishery Products Wholesale Market on the 11th to examine the market's operational status and hear grievances from on-site stakeholders, including wholesalers.

This on-site visit was arranged to directly listen to voices from the field regarding operational activation plans for the Suwon Agricultural and Fishery Products Wholesale Market proposed by the Korea Agricultural Products Wholesalers Association Federation, and to jointly seek ways to improve market usage environment and enhance competitiveness.

Present at the site were Chairman Kim Mi-kyung, Councilor Kang Eun-ho (Democratic Party, Seryou 2·3·Gwonseon 1 District), Councilor Jung Yun-woo (People Power Party, Seryou 2·3·Gwonseon 1 District), along with the head of Suwon's Agricultural Technology Center, the manager of the Agricultural and Fishery Products Wholesale Market Division, the director of the regional economy division, and relevant wholesaler representatives.

Participants received briefings on the market's operational status and exchanged opinions on market operation-related proposals including △waiving facility usage fees for wholesaler association offices within the wholesale market and △downward adjustment of minimum transaction amounts.

Chairman Kim Mi-kyung stated, "The agricultural and fishery products wholesale market is an important living infrastructure connecting citizens' food supply with the local economy, so we need to carefully examine the difficulties and opinions felt directly by those in the field." She added, "We will carefully examine with relevant departments how the proposals made today can actually help market operations, and the council will continue to take sustained interest in creating a better market environment."
