Kim In-bae, Jangan-gu Office Chief, Strengthens Emergency Response Inspections for Extreme Heat
Kim In-bae, Jangan-gu Office Chief of Suwon Special Metropolitan City, has strengthened emergency response systems prioritizing residents' safety in response to the continuing extreme heat wave.
On the 7th, Jangan-gu held an "Emergency Countermeasures Meeting on Extreme Heat Response" under the leadership of the district chief, with all department heads from the district office in attendance, conducting thorough inspections to ensure sector-specific measures such as protecting vulnerable populations and securing safety for outdoor workers are operating smoothly in the field.
At the meeting, Kim In-bae emphasized, "Vulnerable populations such as elderly people and persons with disabilities are more severely affected by extreme heat, requiring special attention," and stressed, "Since outdoor workers face high risk of heat-related illnesses, we must carefully monitor that protective measures such as compliance with rest periods and securing break spaces are being properly observed."
Currently, Jangan-gu is implementing △comprehensive inspections and extended operations of senior community centers as heat relief shelters △air conditioning inspections and cooling expense support for senior community centers △distribution of summer supplies to on-site workers such as environmental management personnel △installation and operation of heat reduction facilities in parks throughout the district, among other measures.
Kim In-bae stressed, "There should be no gaps whatsoever in matters directly related to residents' safety," and urged, "All public officials must take responsibility and build comprehensive safety nets to minimize damage from extreme heat."
