Suwon Jangan-gu Health Center Opens First Oral Health Care Room at Long-Term Care Facility
Suwon Jangan-gu Health Center has opened its first oral health care room at Suwon Municipal Senior Care Hospital and will begin providing customized oral care services to resident seniors starting the 13th.
The oral health care room, established on the first basement level of the care facility, is equipped with dental unit chairs and medical equipment. Dentists and dental hygienists from Jangan-gu Health Center visit the facility to manage the oral health of 145 elderly residents with limited mobility.
Major services include △oral health education △oral examinations △fluoride application △tartar removal △periodontal treatment △early cavity treatment. By providing regular oral care, the center plans to reduce discomfort when elderly residents chew food and prevent health deterioration caused by oral diseases.
Jangan-gu Health Center is also conducting theoretical and practical oral care training for 60 care workers at the facility to enhance their capacity to monitor and manage the oral health condition of resident seniors in their daily care activities.
The oral health care room will be operated through December this year, with plans to continue providing care worker education and oral management services for resident seniors.
An official from Jangan-gu Health Center stated, "By installing an oral health care room at a long-term care facility for the first time in Suwon, elderly residents with limited mobility can now receive professional oral care safely within the facility," and added, "We will continue to expand services to protect the oral health of vulnerable populations in terms of medical access."
