Hwaseong Special City Launches 'Environmental Partnership Network' with Citizens, Government, Industry, and Academia

Hwaseong Special City (Mayor Jung Myung-geun) and the Hwaseong City Environment Foundation held the first forum of the 'Environmental Partnership Network,' bringing together diverse environmental action stakeholders from the region under the slogan 'Sustainable Hwaseong, Moving Forward Together' on the 10th at YBM Training Center.

The forum was organized to establish a cooperation system among environmental action stakeholders from various sectors of the community, including civic organizations, enterprises, schools, and government, and to discover and promote joint environmental projects.

In Part 1, a specialist instructor from the Korean Public Education Institute conducted education on 'Understanding Public-Private Collaboration and Best Practices.' In the subsequent Part 2 forum, participants exchanged diverse opinions on the official name of the Environmental Partnership Network, future operational directions, and discovery of environmental action projects to be pursued jointly.

The forum was attended by representatives from various sectors including △Hwaseong City Climate, Energy and Environment Bureau △Hwaseong City Environment Foundation △Neonadeurui Earth Community △Bareun Bapsang Culture Center △Bruniel Shop △Sanmaru Nature Classroom △Upcycling Artists Group △Songsan High School △Eco Hands △Walking Holic △Earth Story △Hwaseong Fair Trade Village Council △Hwaseong Sustainable Development Council △Hwaseong Environmental Education Network △Hwaseong Environment Movement Association △Hwaseong Love-Environment Alliance, reaffirming their commitment to collaboration across citizens, government, industry, and academia.

Yun Soon-seok, Director of the Climate, Energy and Environment Bureau, stated, "Leveraging this first Environmental Partnership Network forum as an opportunity, we will continue to communicate and cooperate with the private sector to jointly create environmental policies that citizens can experience."

Jung Seung-ho, CEO of Hwaseong City Environment Foundation, said, "The Environmental Partnership Network is a public-private-industry-academia collaborative network where civic organizations, enterprises, schools, and government unite their strengths to create a sustainable future for Hwaseong City," and added, "We will actively support greater collaboration with more community stakeholders and ensure that joint projects translate into tangible results."

Hwaseong City Environment Foundation plans to establish a stable operational foundation for the Environmental Partnership Network and to discover and implement environmental action projects jointly planned and executed by citizens, government, industry, and academia.
