Yongin Special City shares Resident Autonomy System policies with Da Nang City, Vietnam
Yongin Special City Mayor Lee Sang-il held a meeting with Nguyen Dinh Binh, Chairman of the Da Nang City Fatherland Front Committee, on the 6th, explaining Yongin City's resident autonomy system and related policies.
The meeting was held in response to a request from the Da Nang City Fatherland Front Committee to share Yongin Special City's operational experience and knowledge regarding its resident autonomy system.
Vietnam's Fatherland Front Committee is a statutory committee that manages National Assembly and People's Council (local legislative body) activities, evaluates policies and their effectiveness, coordinates and oversees social organizations, and gathers resident complaints and social demands.
The meeting was attended by Mayor Lee Sang-il, Jang Jung-soon (Chairman of the City Council), Shin Na-yeon (Chairwoman of the City Council's Autonomy and Administration Committee), Kang Young-woong (City Councilor), and other representatives from the city and city council, as well as Han Jung-il (Consul General of the Republic of Korea in Da Nang).
On the Da Nang side, Chairman Nguyen and senior officials from the Fatherland Front Committee attended, along with Nguyen Thi Tu Trang (Deputy Director of Da Nang City's Foreign Affairs Department) and other city officials.
Mayor Lee stated in his remarks, "Yongin Special City has maintained friendly relations and cooperation with Quang Nam Province in the past, and as Quang Nam Province was integrated into Da Nang City due to Vietnam's administrative reorganization, Yongin City and Da Nang City established friendly relations in January this year, broadening our horizons for exchange and cooperation. I hope Yongin Special City's cooperative relationship with Da Nang City, which has a population exceeding 3 million, will become even stronger."
Chairman Nguyen stated, "The Fatherland Front Committee not only manages party committees but also plays a role in supporting residents' activities. Therefore, I hope Yongin Special City will share its experience on how to effectively implement resident autonomy in relation to this role."
Mayor Lee explained to Chairman Nguyen and others about Yongin Special City's resident-led village projects with distinctive local characteristics, where village residents develop and solve local agendas.
The Yongin delegation subsequently attended a reception hosted by Da Nang City's Fatherland Front Committee and agreed to strengthen exchange and cooperation between the two cities.
