Guri Agricultural & Fishery Corporation Conducts 'Special Safety Training for Preventing Suffocation Accidents in Confined Spaces'
[News S=Eom In-yong] Guri Agricultural & Fishery Corporation (President Kim Jin-soo, hereinafter 'the Corporation') held 'Special Safety Training for Preventing Suffocation Accidents in Confined Spaces' on the 15th (Wednesday) to prevent suffocation accidents in confined spaces, which carry heightened risk during the summer months.
The safety training, attended by field workers from water purification plants and other facilities, focused on practical field safety procedures including △measuring oxygen and hazardous gas concentrations before entering confined spaces △ventilation methods to maintain adequate air circulation △proper wearing of protective equipment such as air-supplied masks △rescue procedures in case of emergencies, thereby enhancing response capabilities for high-risk summer work.
Additionally, immediately following the training, the 'Employee Safety and Health Communication Council' was held, where field workers gathered together to share hazards and risk factors in high-risk work environments and discuss practical improvement measures.
Through this process, the Corporation enhanced the effectiveness of safety measures based on field opinions and created an opportunity for establishing a safety and health culture.
In particular, amid the recent record-breaking heat waves, the Corporation strengthened health management by continuously providing cool drinking water at work sites to prevent heat-related illnesses such as heat stroke and heat exhaustion among outdoor workers.
Furthermore, heat wave response supplies for preventing heat-related illnesses will be distributed to Corporation executives, employees, and distributors with support from Guri City.
President Kim Jin-soo stated, "Summer is a season with heightened risks of heat-related illnesses due to extreme heat and suffocation accidents in confined spaces, making prevention-focused safety management crucial." He added, "Going forward, we will maintain a comprehensive safety and health management system to prevent even a single safety accident through thorough safety training, field support, and continuous communication with distributors."
