Hwaseong Special City Holds Communication Forum for 'Youth-Friendly City Overflowing with Opportunities'
Hwaseong Special City (Mayor Jung Myung-geun) held a '2026 Communication Forum with Youth' at the Dongtan District Office conference room on the 22nd, exchanging diverse opinions on youth policies with members of the Youth Policy Council.
The forum was organized to reflect various voices from young people in municipal administration and to jointly explore effective policy directions that youth can feel and experience. Approximately 40 members of the 5th Hwaseong City Youth Policy Council, including Chairman Yoon Jae-won, attended the forum.
The city is pursuing diverse youth policies with the aim of creating a 'youth-friendly city overflowing with opportunities,' one of nine major strategies, based on the values of 'happiness for all, a greater Hwaseong' and 'growth, inclusion, and fairness.'
Based on opinions shared at the forum, the city plans to broaden youth opportunities for policy participation and further revitalize the operation of the Youth Policy Council. In particular, it will strengthen the policy proposal function by division to ensure that field voices from youth translate into substantive policies.
Additionally, the city plans to expand the foundation for youth to lead participation throughout the entire policy process—from establishment to dissemination—by implementing △youth policy forums △youth policy promotion support teams △youth policy idea contests △youth-participated budgeting △and expanding the proportion of youth members on various committees.
Mayor Jung Myung-geun of Hwaseong Special City stated, "Hwaseong Special City is a young and dynamic city where the youth population accounts for approximately 30 percent of the total population. We will create a 'youth-friendly city overflowing with opportunities' where young people can settle down for the long term, take root in the community, and enjoy more opportunities and possibilities in areas closely tied to life, such as employment, housing, culture, and welfare."
