Gyeonggi Province Library and Gyeonggi Research Institute held the 'Gyeonggi Province Library AI Forum - Beyond AI, We Are' on the 20th, discussing the values and direction that artificial intelligence (AI) should pursue in a society where technology is rapidly advancing.

The forum proceeded under the theme 'AI for a Better Society,' with keynote lectures, designated discussions, and Q&A sessions in sequence. AI experts, policy researchers, and residents from the province participated.

The keynote lecture was delivered by Yoon Seok-won, CEO of AIWORKX, an AI data construction company. CEO Yoon previously worked as a software engineer at Microsoft and Samsung Electronics. Recognizing the reality that career-experienced women receive education yet fail to secure employment, he founded an IT startup. He has since established an inclusive AI ecosystem connecting the strengths of people with developmental disabilities to AI data construction.

CEO Yoon Seok-won began his presentation with the question, "For whom is AI actually advancing?" and diagnosed that "as we move from generative AI to the era of physical AI, if the benefits of technology become concentrated in certain enterprises and capital, the technology gap and inequality could intensify."

To address this, Yoon proposed that AI should be a technology that collaborates with humans rather than replacing them, and suggested 'core principles of inclusive and sustainable AI' including data sharing for public interest, reliability verification, lightweight AI that anyone can utilize, and sustainability considering the environment.

In the subsequent designated discussion and Q&A, Yoon Myung-hee, Director of Gyeonggi Province Library, served as moderator.

Director Yoon Myung-hee stated, "This was an opportunity to move beyond simple technology and industry-focused discourse, disseminate human-centered values based on the library, and seek mutually beneficial measures to address social side effects of the digital transformation era through communication among residents, academia, and industry." She added, "Starting with this event, we plan to continue joint forums between Gyeonggi Province Library and Gyeonggi Research Institute to expand the public discourse platform."
