Hwaseong City Provides Gender Violence Support Information at Police Dispatch Sites
The Hwaseong Integrated Sexual Assault and Domestic Violence Counseling Center announced on the 21st that it is strengthening a system to directly provide support information to gender violence victims at police dispatch sites through cooperation with the Hwaseong Dongtan Police Station and Hwaseong West Police Station.
This collaboration was established through network meetings held when the integrated counseling center visited each of the two police stations. As a result, ‘Gender Violence Support Information for Hwaseong Citizens’ will be placed at police substations, police boxes, and police dispatch vehicles to be provided to victims.
The guide includes information on psychological and emotional counseling, medical expense support, investigation procedures and legal support, and coordination of administrative and welfare services. Victims can now receive information about support programs directly at the reporting site, regardless of whether criminal proceedings are pursued.
Choo Hye-ri, director of the integrated counseling center, said, "The moment a gender violence victim reports to the police is a very critical time when they can connect with necessary help," and added, "Going forward, we will continue to cooperate with community institutions to ensure that victims can connect with support and recovery services wherever they are."
