Yongin Special City Renovates Mabuk Neighborhood Park as Civic Space
Yongin Special City (Mayor Lee Sang-il) announced on the 20th that it has refurbished facilities at Mabuk Neighborhood Park in Mabuk-dong, Giheung-gu, and created green spaces.
The city invested a total project cost of 900 million won (500 million won in city funds, 300 million won in national funds, and 100 million won in provincial funds) to repair aging park facilities and covered existing ponds to transform the area into green spaces and gardens.
The city constructed platforms around the pavilion, installed traditional chimneys, and planted flowering plants such as plum blossoms to create resting areas for citizens.
By organizing the space so that the pavilion and surrounding greenery harmonize, the park has been transformed into a place where citizens can relax and appreciate nature.
The city also consolidated exercise equipment scattered throughout the park into one location for visitor convenience, and replaced deck stairs to improve efficiency in facility management and safety inspections.
A city official stated, "We have refurbished the aging facilities at Mabuk Neighborhood Park and transformed the existing pond and stream areas into comfortable green spaces and gardens for citizens to enjoy," and added, "Going forward, we will continue to prioritize citizen safety while implementing community-oriented park improvements that reflect the needs of local residents."
