Pyeongtaek City Holds Initial Situation Report Meeting for Ulji Drill
Pyeongtaek City (Mayor Choi Won-yong) held the "2026 Ulji Drill Initial Situation Report Meeting" on the 18th at the City Hall Integrated Situation Room with approximately 90 participants, including civil servants, military and police personnel, and relevant agency officials, in connection with the Ulji Drill scheduled to run through the 21st.
The drill will take place over four days from August 18 to 21 and was organized to verify the effectiveness of the Chungmu Plan in a changing security environment and amid various complex crises, as well as to protect citizens' lives and ensure their safety.
During the drill period, Pyeongtaek City will conduct both tabletop exercises and field training, implementing practical drills based on various emergency scenarios including military provocation, natural disasters, and cyberattacks. Through this, the city plans to assess the emergency response capabilities of administrative agencies and further strengthen the organic coordination system among the military, police, and related organizations.
Mayor Choi Won-yong emphasized in his opening remarks that "amid the recent unstable security situation, concrete crisis response preparations are not an option but a necessity," and urged "all participants to approach this Ulji Drill with the same mindset as actual combat so that it does not remain merely a formality."
Through this Ulji Drill, Pyeongtaek City plans to address identified issues and further strengthen the region's security capabilities.
