A new web service has emerged that allows job seekers to see at a glance information about hiring companies near their residence on a map.

The Gyeonggi Job Foundation announced on the 19th that it will introduce a new map-based job information service called 'Job Map' on the Gyeonggi Job Portal 'Jobaba'.

Job Map is a service that allows job seekers to view job listings in nearby areas on a map, centered on their current location or desired workplace area. The service was designed to support job seekers' employment choices by taking into account commute distance and transportation accessibility along with other working conditions.

Commute time is considered a major factor affecting job selection, comparable to salary and working conditions. According to the Statistics Korea's 'Analysis of Commuting Worker Movement Characteristics in 2024,' the average daily commute time for workers in the Seoul metropolitan area is 82 minutes. In a survey conducted by Carrot Real Estate targeting 971 mobile app users, 40.2% of respondents selected 'shortening commute distance and workplace travel time' as their primary criterion for choosing a residence, the highest proportion.

Job Map expands the map-based job service previously offered through the foundation's mobile app 'Job Dream' to the PC environment. Unlike the existing list-based search method, job postings in desired areas can be intuitively checked on the map. Users can explore nearby job opportunities by moving the map view, making it possible to conduct job searches that consider both workplace location and living area.

Users can select their current location or desired area, set a radius, and view nearby job postings at a glance. The service also provides keyword search and filter functions with various conditions. Job seekers can distinguish between public and private sector positions, and selecting a job posting on the map displays detailed recruitment information. In particular, the existing Gyeonggi-focused job information scope has been expanded nationwide, providing diverse job information regardless of location.

The Jobaba Job Map service can be used by anyone without complicated procedures. Simply access the Gyeonggi Job Portal Jobaba and select the 'Job Map' menu, or visit the Job Map website (job.gg.go.kr/map.do). On mobile devices, users can check nearby job information through the 'Job Dream' app.

Yoon Deok-ryong, CEO of the Gyeonggi Job Foundation, stated, "We have expanded our map-based service so that job seekers can more easily and quickly check job information in their desired areas. We will continue to enhance Job Map and expand and open the service to other provinces, public institutions, and job centers to develop it into a user-friendly, community-focused job service that more citizens can conveniently access."
