Gyeonggi Province Governor Choo Mi-ae stated on the first day of the Eulji Drill, "The ordinary daily lives of residents can only be protected on the foundation of solid security," and urged the establishment of unwavering security posture.

Governor Choo said at a first situation briefing meeting for the 2026 Eulji Drill held at the Wartime Integrated Situation Room at 8 a.m. on the 18th, "The Eulji Drill is a very important training that inspects our crisis response capabilities in preparation for national emergencies such as wartime and contingencies, and consolidates the nation's emergency preparedness posture through practical training with government, civilian, and military sectors united as one," and emphasized, "Gyeonggi Province's security is Korea's security. There must not be the slightest complacency in security."

Governor Choo continued, "Gyeonggi Province is a border region and simultaneously the area with the highest concentration of Korea's population, making it a key strategic location for national and military important facilities, and a security hub where more than 50% of the nation's military forces are deployed," and requested, "I ask that you make every effort to establish wartime emergency preparedness posture through the Eulji Drill spanning three nights and four days beginning today."

She added, "Please respond swiftly and decisively based on functional Chunmu contingency plans, prioritize resident protection, and ensure that administrative functions do not stop even during wartime," and stated, "I hope the Eulji Drill concludes successfully and becomes an opportunity for Gyeonggi Province's crisis management capabilities to make another leap forward."

The Eulji Drill is a nationwide emergency preparedness training conducted at government-wide level to protect the lives and property of citizens in the event of national emergencies such as war and terrorism.

Gyeonggi Province plans to conduct emergency civil servant mobilization, wartime organizational formation training, and resident movement training in areas adjacent to the front on the 18th.

On the 19th, North Korean refugee protection training will be conducted as an actual provincial-level drill at the Hwaseong Agricultural Technology Center, and on the 20th, nationwide civil defense drills in preparation for air raids will be held.

During civil defense drill air raid sirens, residents should evacuate to nearby shelters, subway stations, underground parking lots, or underground spaces in large buildings. Vehicles driving on certain controlled road sections should follow the guidance of drill personnel and participate in actual training to clear paths for fire trucks and ambulances.
