'Great Transformation of Gyeonggi Education, Done Right!'...Major Organizational Restructuring Implemented

[News S=Reporter Jung Jun-sung] The Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education will implement a reorganization of its main office on the 1st of next month to promote key pledges announced in the inauguration speech of newly-elected Superintendent An Min-seok for his second term.

The office will establish new divisions and operations centered on the superintendent's major policy objectives including RAS Education, Breaking Barriers Cooperation, and Democratic Citizenship Education.

This organizational restructuring is significant in that it signals the beginning of mid- and long-term reorganization in line with the slogan 'Great Transformation of Gyeonggi Education, Done Right!' and establishes a solid organizational foundation.

As a main restructuring measure, a 'RAS Education Division' will be newly established under the Regional Education Bureau. The office plans to promote RAS Education, which transforms school culture and ecosystem through integrated implementation of reading education, arts and culture education, and sports education—all essential in the artificial intelligence (AI) era.

Next, the Regional Education Policy Division of the Regional Education Bureau will change its department name to 'Breaking Barriers Cooperation Division.' This change expresses the determination for innovation and transformation to overcome existing organizational barriers and achieve tangible results.

Additionally, a 'Democratic Citizenship Education Division' will be newly established under the Regional Education Bureau, signaling a revival of democratic citizenship education. Going forward, the office will work to foster a mature school culture where teachers, students, and parents are all respected and treated with respect.

The Digital Education Policy Division of the Digital Talent Bureau will change its name to the 'AI Education Policy Division.' The office plans to pursue AI education policy as a 'human-centered AI education system' and will supplement and expand the AI education platform.

The Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education stated, "This organizational restructuring is the initial step toward the great transformation of Gyeonggi education and to establish a foundation for implementing the superintendent's key pledges," and added, "Going forward, we will continue to work to establish an educational administration system for the great transformation of Gyeonggi education."

Meanwhile, the amended ordinance on the administrative organization of the Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education containing the details of this reorganization will undergo legislative notice from August 3rd to 7th and is scheduled to take effect on September 1st.
