The Gyeonggi Province Agricultural Technology Center will conduct 'specialized beekeeping farm education' to promote healthy honeybee breeding techniques.

The education program will be held three times—on August 7, August 31, and September 30—at the Gyeonggi Province Agricultural Technology Center.

In the first session, Professor Gil Ui-jun from Konkuk University lectured on 'Varroa Mites and Bee Viruses: Types and Response Measures,' covering field-oriented content including honeybee mite and viral diseases and effective countermeasures.

The second session will feature lectures by Professor Lee Myeong-ryeol from Chungbuk Agricultural Meister University on 'Colony Development and Strength Management,' and the third session will include a lecture by Agricultural Research Scientist Oh Dae-geun from the Rural Development Administration on 'Understanding Superior Honeybee Breed Development and Propagation Techniques.'

The target participants are beekeeping farmers in Gyeonggi Province and members of the Gyeonggi Province Beekeeping Research Association. Those wishing to attend the second and third sessions can apply through their local county agricultural technology centers or beekeeping departments.

Jo Jeong-ju, Director of the Gyeonggi Province Agricultural Technology Center, said, "Climate change has increased damage from bee pests and diseases, reducing bee populations and creating significant hardship for farmers. Going forward, we will expand the provision of customized farm-level technology to do our best in overcoming the crisis facing Gyeonggi Province's beekeeping industry."
