Hwaseong Mayor Jung Myeong-geun Elected as 23rd Chairman of Korea Large Cities Mayors Council

[News S=Reporter Jeon Si-eon] Hwaseong Special City Mayor Jung Myeong-geun has been unanimously elected as the 23rd chairman of the Korea Large Cities Mayors Council.

His term will run until June 2028.

In his inaugural address, Mayor Jung said, “I sincerely thank you for entrusting me with this important responsibility,” and added, “I will faithfully fulfill my role for the development of the council and the resolution of common issues facing member cities.” He continued, “I will create a strong council where member cities share experiences and wisdom, and jointly address each city's challenges.”

Mayor Jung expressed his commitment to leveraging his public service experience, background as a parliamentary aide, and activities as chairman of the Special Cities Council to ensure that the voices of member cities are effectively conveyed to the government and National Assembly.

The Korea Large Cities Mayors Council is a consultative body comprising 19 major cities nationwide with populations exceeding 500,000. Over the next two years, Mayor Jung plans to work with member cities to strengthen policy cooperation systems for large cities.
