Gyeonggi Province has discussed plans to expand inter-regional government cooperation with Arizona in the advanced industry sector.

Park Geun-gyun, director of the International Cooperation Division of Gyeonggi Province, met on the 14th at the Gyeonggi Provincial Government with Agnese Sturmanee, Vice President of the Arizona Commerce Authority (ACA), Michael Finn, Vice Mayor of Peoria, and Sean Fogarty, Vice President of the Greater Phoenix Economic Council, to discuss substantial inter-regional government cooperation in advanced industries including semiconductor supply chains and business and investment cooperation.

Director Park Geun-gyun stated, "Gyeonggi Province and Arizona are regions with world-class advanced industry ecosystems, and if we leverage each other's strengths, we can create greater synergy. We look forward to this meeting as an opportunity to expand exchanges in the advanced industry sector and to lead to substantive economic cooperation."

In response, Agnese Sturmanee, Vice President of the Arizona Commerce Authority, said, "Arizona values its cooperative relationship with Gyeonggi Province, and we look forward to expanding exchanges between businesses and institutions based on the strengths of both regions and creating continuous cooperative outcomes."

Arizona is a world-class advanced industry hub with global semiconductor companies including Onsemi and Amkor headquarters, TSMC, and Intel, and has recently enhanced its status as a global semiconductor center by being selected as the permanent host for SEMICON West, North America's largest semiconductor industry exhibition.

Peoria is developing Amkor's largest advanced packaging manufacturing facility in North America, and the Greater Phoenix Economic Council (GPEC) plays an important role in expanding Arizona's industrial ecosystem through attracting global companies and supporting investment.

Previously, Gyeonggi Province signed a friendly cooperation memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Arizona in 2024 and has been maintaining continuous exchanges between the regional governments. The province expects this meeting to serve as an opportunity to further concretize cooperation between the two regions and translate it into substantive results.
