Lee Dong-gi, former Democratic Party Sokcho-Injae-Gosung-Yangyang Regional Chair, is known to have been appointed to fill the vacant position of Suwon City's Vice Mayor.

According to local political circles on the 12th, the appointment procedure is underway, including document screening based on a recruitment announcement for Suwon City's Vice Mayor position last month.

Born in 1974, the former chair previously served as secretary general of the Sokcho-Gosung-Yangyang Anti-Corruption Citizens' Alliance and as an administrative official in former President Roh Moo-hyun's secretariat before taking on the role of Democratic Party Sokcho-Gosung-Yangyang Regional Chair.

During the presidential election, he served as political affairs deputy director for candidate Lee Jae-myung, and in the June 3 local elections, he supported Woo Sang-ho, who ran for Gangwon Province Governor, as well as local-level Democratic Party candidates.

A city official said, "This is a personnel procedure in progress, and it is not a situation we can discuss."
