Provincial parks are natural parks designated under the Natural Parks Act for the purpose of protecting and utilizing natural scenery comparable to national parks. Three sites have been designated in Gyeonggi Province: Namhansanseong, Yeonin Mountain, and Suri Mountain.

The crackdown was carried out to eliminate illegal activities occurring near provincial parks during the summer vacation season, preserve pristine natural environments, and provide residents with safe recreational spaces.

Violations include △9 cases of Food Sanitation Act violations (unauthorized expansion of business premises and failure to report area changes, etc.) △5 cases of Greenbelt Conservation Act violations (unauthorized installation of structures and unauthorized land conversion, etc.) △2 cases of Tourism Promotion Act violations (operation of unreported other theme parks) △2 cases of Public Water Surface and River Act violations (unauthorized occupation and use of public water surfaces and unauthorized river water usage, etc.), totaling 18 cases.

Examining major violation cases, business establishment A expanded its premises without reporting changes in business area by placing tables in outdoor spaces and illegally diverted river water for use in the establishment.

Business establishment B unlawfully altered land within the greenbelt conservation area and used it as a parking lot, while establishment C was caught operating other theme park facilities (bouncing equipment) without reporting to the relevant authorities.

The identified businesses are scheduled to undergo investigation according to relevant laws and regulations and be referred to the prosecutor's office.

Special Judicial Police Unit Chief Kwon Moon-ju said, "We will continue to crack down on illegal activities near Gyeonggi provincial natural parks and do our best to ensure that residents can enjoy safe and clean natural environments."
