Rotary International District 3750 Participates in 'Suwon Independence Movement Trail' Project
Rotary International District 3750 and the Suwon Volunteer Center have decided to collaborate on the 'Suwon Independence Movement Trail' project.
Rotary International District 3750 and the Suwon Volunteer Center signed a business agreement on the 7th at the District 3750 office, with Governor Kwon Yong-jun and Suwon Volunteer Center Director Choi Young-hwa in attendance. The agreement centers on cooperation in the 'Suwon Independence Movement Trail' project.
This agreement goes beyond simple inter-organizational cooperation. Based on the spirit of volunteer service among Rotarians and community networks, it aims to expand citizen participation and pass down Suwon's history of independence movements to future generations.
Through installation of information boards, training of citizen interpreters, and operation of historical exploration programs, the two organizations plan to transform everyday spaces that citizens pass by unnoticed into educational venues where people can learn about and remember the region's independence movement history.
Under the agreement, both organizations will jointly promote the 'Suwon Independence Movement Trail' project as well as mutual social contribution activities. They also agreed to collaborate on various activities to spread a culture of sharing, cultivate community consciousness, and expand participation from community members.
Through these efforts, both organizations plan to create a citizen-participatory social contribution model that re-examines Suwon's independence activists and historical sites, and enables future generations to take pride in Suwon's history.
Governor Kwon Yong-jun of Rotary International District 3750 said, "It is highly meaningful that Rotarians will participate together in this significant project to commemorate and pass down Suwon's history of the independence movement to future generations. We will continue various sharing activities together with the local community based on the spirit of Rotary service."
Director Choi Young-hwa of the Suwon Volunteer Center said, "Through this agreement, we will develop it into a citizen-participatory history and culture project in which more citizens remember Suwon's independence movement history and participate in the project's process."
