[News S=Reporter Eom In-yong] Guri City Council held a youth parliamentary classroom on the 5th at its main assembly hall with about 20 members of the Guri-Namyangju Youth Education Council.

The parliamentary classroom held to inform the younger generation, the future leaders, of the importance of local autonomy and the functions of the council, provided a meaningful time to learn about the role of local councils and the values of democracy.

The program proceeded in the following order: △Introduction to the role and function of city council △Welcome remarks from the council chair and members △Student-led mock parliament experience △Commemorative photo.

Council Chair Yang Gyeong-ae said in her welcome remarks, "The council is a venue of democracy where important matters of the community are discussed, opinions are coordinated, and promises for a better tomorrow are made," and added, "I hope today's mock parliament experience becomes a precious opportunity to learn 'mature civic consciousness' that listens to others' opinions and resolves problems through rational dialogue."
