[News S=Reporter Eom In-yong] The Consulate General of Korea in New York is drawing attention as it is making full efforts to promote Hangul to the world in line with the AI era.

Consul General Kim Sang-ho of New York shared through his SNS that "the '44th Korean School Association in America Academic Conference and Regular General Meeting' hosted by the Korean School Association in America shone with teamwork of Hangul Team Korea cooperation, led by the Ministry of Education's Seoł Se-hun, Director of the Presidential Secretariat, International Korean Language Education Foundation Chairman Yim Young-dam, NAKS President Kwon Ye-soon, and Park Chang-won, Director of the Education Division of the New York Consulate General," and stated that "the 'BTS' and 'BLACKPINK' Hangul textbooks produced by the educational foundation are hugely popular."

Consul General Kim also said, "At the NAKS academic conference held under the theme of 'Korean Language Schools Growing Together in the AI Era,' approximately 500 Korean language teachers from across the United States who attended are already serving as proud private diplomats of a 'Republic of Korea with strong cultural power,' and Professor Daphne Jule of Stanford University, the village chief of the Minnesota Concordia Korean Language Village, is expanding the horizons of Korean studies beyond simple language education with the Korean Language Village's 'Lake in the Forest.'"

He particularly emphasized that "K-culture is evolving one step beyond simple Korean language education to a stage of deep insight into Korea's politics, society, culture, and history."

He added, "Next year will be a meaningful year marking the 80th anniversary of Yale University in Connecticut, which falls under the jurisdiction of the New York Consulate General, beginning Korean language education." He continued, "Since Yale University established a formal Korean language program in 1947 for missionaries and military personnel, the New York Consulate General will share a common dream of further elevating the value of Korean language education in the United States."

He further stated, "Hangul, created by King Sejong, is now receiving higher recognition for its scientific value in the world as AI technology brilliantly advances. Professor Lim Chul-il, who gave the keynote speech at this academic conference (Seoul National University Future Education Innovation Center), emphasized cooperation among stakeholders in AI digital education and attempts to integrate artificial intelligence with other subjects.

Additionally, "In a case presentation, Strategic Director Hong Ji-sung introduced 'Donguibogam and Korean Traditional Medicine' teaching and learning materials published by Dasom Korean School in Northern California in 2020, and is attempting history and culture education by combining generative AI with diverse historical and cultural materials including Korean history and immigration history, figures and literature, and traditional culture and daily life culture," he said.
