[News S=Reporter Eom In-yong] The Icheon Disabled Persons Independent Living Center (Director Kim Seon-chul) announced on the 8th that it has been finally selected by Gyeonggi Province as a 'Disability Activity Support Worker Training Institution.'

A disability activity support worker training institution is a facility that cultivates specialized personnel who provide close support for disabled persons' physical, domestic, and social activities.

With this designation, the Icheon Disabled Persons Independent Living Center has established a foundation to directly educate and produce excellent activity support workers in the region through systematic and professional training programs.

Previously, aspiring workers in the Icheon region had to travel to other areas to receive training; however, with this designation of the training institution, they will now be able to conveniently complete their education within the region, greatly improving accessibility.

The center plans to operate standard curriculum including theory and practical training as well as field practice for trainees seeking disability activity support worker certification.

Through this, by nurturing a large number of activity support workers with expertise, it is expected to enhance disability welfare services in the region and contribute to creating quality jobs for middle-aged workers and career-interrupted women.

Kim Seon-chul, director of the Icheon Disabled Persons Independent Living Center, said, "This designation as a training institution will be an important opportunity to raise the level of disability welfare infrastructure in Icheon City," and added, "We will do our best to nurture warm and capable activity support workers who can substantially assist disabled persons in achieving independent living."
