Suwon Metropolitan City Council Gathers Citizens' Voices Without Filter at First 'Dialogue with Citizens'
The Suwon Metropolitan City Council (Chair Kim Mi-kyung) held the 'First Open Council Policy and Citizen Dialogue' in the first-floor lobby of the Suwon Metropolitan City Council on the 14th, providing an opportunity for communication by directly listening to diverse voices from citizens.
The Suwon Metropolitan City Council has been collecting opinions and suggestions from citizens through various channels including the website section 'Requests for the Council.' The 13th Council took a step further from existing communication methods by organizing this event for the first time to sit down directly with citizens and exchange opinions.
The first dialogue proceeded under the theme 'What We Hope for the 13th Suwon Metropolitan City Council,' with citizens freely sharing opinions on the role they hope the council will play, inconveniences in daily life, and policies that need priority implementation in the region.
Approximately 100 people participated in the event, including Council Chair Kim Mi-kyung, Vice Chair Yu Jae-gwang, Suwon Metropolitan City Council members, related officials, and citizens who had applied in advance. Council members directly heard from citizens and examined local issues and policy challenges together.
The Suwon Metropolitan City Council plans to share citizens' opinions presented on the day with relevant departments and actively review them in future legislative activities and policy review processes.
Council Chair Kim Mi-kyung stated, "While we have been listening to citizens' opinions through various channels, we now want to sit down face-to-face and hear more closely what kind of council citizens envision and what role they hope it will play," and added, "We will faithfully reflect these precious opinions in our legislative activities and continue to communicate with citizens to build a 'Council that Citizens, Citizens, and Citizens Open Together.'"
Beginning with this 'First Open Council Policy and Citizen Dialogue,' the Suwon Metropolitan City Council plans to continuously expand opportunities for communication by meeting directly with citizens and listening to diverse opinions.
