Suwon Municipal Assembly Members Host Local Residents' Meeting on Gwanggyo Café Street

Vice-Chairman Kim Ga-hyun (People Power Party, Gwanggyo 1·2) and Councilor Seo Hyung-mi (Democratic Party, Gwanggyo 1·2) of the Urban Future Committee at the Suwon Municipal Assembly invited 15 members of the Gwanggyo Café Street Development Committee (Chairman Choi Jong-hyun) to the assembly on the 12th for a facility tour and discussion session.

Aligned with the assembly's policy slogan "Citizens, Citizens, Citizens! An Assembly Opening Together," committee members watched a promotional video about the roles and activities of the Suwon Municipal Assembly, then toured the main chamber and standing committee meeting rooms to observe the process of ordinance enactment and amendment as well as decision-making.

During the discussion session, various local issues were broadly discussed, including parking problems in the café street area. Opinions were raised that as visitor traffic to the commercial district increases, the shortage of parking spaces has become an inconvenience for both residents and merchants.

In response, the two councilors explained that the creation of a parking tower using development profit funds is being discussed as one of the projects under review. They also stated that when the parking tower is constructed, they have proposed to related departments the possibility of including a senior center as well. However, they emphasized that the implementation and prioritization of the project will be determined after expert review and community input, urging active participation in the upcoming community opinion-gathering process.

Vice-Chairman Kim Ga-hyun said, "I will frequently communicate with residents and engage in assembly activities with a joyful and happy heart."

Councilor Seo Hyung-mi stated, "I will work hard to make our neighborhood with the café street a truly warm and pleasant place to live."

An official from the development committee said, "We appreciate your interest in sharing residents' joy and concerns while overseeing municipal administration, and we hope you will pay more attention to the café street."
