Pyeongtaek Linked Village Communities Benchmark Renewable Energy Excellence Village
Pyeongtaek City (Mayor Choi Won-yong) announced that village communities in Daechuri, Donggori, and Jukbaek 1-ri, which are preparing for the Sunlight Income Village project, jointly conducted advanced site benchmarking at Guyang-ri in Yeoju City, Gyeonggi Province, a renewable energy excellence village, on the 10th.
This benchmarking was attended by a total of 38 residents, including the village heads of the three communities and residents interested in the project. The participation was a voluntary effort to successfully attract and prepare for the 'Sunlight Income Village' project, which the current government is actively promoting.
Guyang-ri in Yeoju, the site of the visit, is a representative advanced case of a resident-led Sunlight Income Village where residents directly form cooperatives to install and operate solar power plants, and return and share profits generated from electricity sales to the village community, thereby simultaneously pursuing energy independence and local economic revitalization.
The residents of the three Pyeongtaek villages who participated on the day received detailed explanations about the composition and operation methods of Guyang-ri's cooperative, the solar power plant installation process, and the community revenue return structure, and toured the on-site facilities directly while discussing specific implementation plans for adopting a Pyeongtaek-type model.
The village heads of the three communities who participated in the site visit said, "Through this benchmarking, we were able to learn practical operational know-how for the Sunlight Income Village project, and the linked community project prepared by the city was a great help," and added, "We will successfully create a sustainable energy-independent community that fits our village's circumstances."
A city official stated, "The Sunlight Income Village project can only succeed when the village community is at the center. We are grateful that many residents participated in this benchmarking, and we will continue to provide various support to ensure the project succeeds."
The 'Linked Project among Resident-Proposed Contest Projects for Village Communities' is a project being promoted exclusively by Pyeongtaek City in Gyeonggi Province to support residents' community activities in connection with national projects. With a subsidy of 3 million won provided, the project was created to allow communities to prepare for Sunlight Income Villages through village community meetings, benchmarking, and educational programs.
