Haengung-dong, Paldal-gu, Suwon (District Chief Choi Young-hee) announced that the Suwon Young Merchants Association (President Jung Ji-young) held the second 'Haengung-dong Plogging Run' on the 9th at Hwahong Sarang-chae with 'Code Project,' a local running crew.

Following the first plogging run, this second plogging event was organized by the Suwon Young Merchants Association in collaboration with the local community. Coinciding with the '2026-2027 Suwon Visit Year,' the event was designed to showcase a clean and pleasant urban environment to citizens and tourists visiting Haengung-dong and to revitalize the local commercial district.

Approximately 50 people, including Young Merchants Association members, runners, and residents, participated in the event. Choi Sung-ho, councilor of Suwon Metropolitan City Council, Hwang Myung-hee, director of Suwon City's Tourism Division, and Choi Young-hee, Haengung-dong District Chief, visited the site to encourage participants and support the plogging activities of the Suwon Young Merchants Association and Code Project.

Participants gathered at Hwahong Sarang-chae and then ran and walked along major tourist attractions in Haengung-dong including Suwon Stream, Haengung Plaza, and Paldalsan Mountain, as well as narrow alleyways, collecting garbage along the way as part of environmental cleanup activities.

Additionally, association members have been continuously carrying out autonomous environmental maintenance activities, cleaning around shops and pedestrian paths, creating a culture where local merchants directly care for the village environment and contribute to the community.

Jung Ji-young, president of the Suwon Young Merchants Association, said, "It was meaningful to organize the second event following the first plogging run, allowing local merchants and runners to run and walk through Haengung-dong together once again." He added, "The association will take the lead in maintaining the environment so that visitors to Haengung-dong can experience a clean and vibrant community, and we will continue activities that align with society."

Lee Chang-woo and Oh Eun-ji, representatives of Code Project (Suwon running crew), stated, "Following the previous event and holding the second plogging run together, it is significant that running and environmental cleanup activities are developing into a local content that naturally combines these elements." They added, "We will continue to create running content with the Suwon Young Merchants Association that allows citizens to enjoy participation while showcasing various parts of Suwon."

Choi Young-hee, Haengung-dong District Chief, said, "I am grateful to the Suwon Young Merchants Association and Code Project for their voluntary participation in the second plogging run, and to all those who participated." She added, "The sight of local merchants, citizens, runners, and public officials together nurturing various parts of Haengung-dong serves as a great force in activating the local community."
