Suwon Declares 'Suwon-Style Mental Health AI Transformation'

Suwon Special City (Mayor Lee Jae-jun) declared a 'Suwon-Style Mental Health AI Transformation.'

On the 15th, Suwon City held the 'Suwon Mental Health Projects 30th Anniversary Commemoration Event' at Jangan-gu Citizens' Hall Hanuri Art Hall, outdoor plaza, and Nosong Gallery, and presented the 'Seven AI Transformation Pledges for Suwon-Style Mental Health.'

The seven pledges are: △Happiness Enhancement 'AI Lifelong Mind Care' △Children and Youth 'AI Kids' Heart Talk Talk' △Adults 'AI Customized Recovery Mate' △Elderly 'AI Elderly Mental Care' △Suicide Prevention 'AI Life Connection Link' △Addiction Management 'AI Recovery Platform' △Mental Rehabilitation 'AI Recharge, Tomorrow.'

The city plans to utilize artificial intelligence technology in mental health across life cycles, suicide prevention, addiction management, and mental rehabilitation sectors, making mental health services more accessible and convenient for citizens.

At the commemoration ceremony, the city reviewed 30 years of achievements in Suwon's mental health projects that began in 1996, and shared the future direction of mental health services with citizens based on accumulated experience and expertise. The ceremony also honored those with outstanding contributions to mental health.

A public lecture titled 'Humanities Enhancement Necessary in the Age of Artificial Intelligence' with participation from poet Na Tae-ju and psychiatrist Lee Young-moon, as well as an academic forum on the seven pledges, were also held.

The outdoor plaza operated mental health experience programs and a small concert, while Nosong Gallery displayed an exhibition documenting 30 years of Suwon's mental health projects.

Since opening the Suwon Mental Health Center on March 18, 1996—the first in Gyeonggi Province—Suwon City has established mental health and welfare centers across life cycles for children, youth, adults, and the elderly, as well as specialized institutions in fields including suicide prevention and addiction management.

In 2016, the city declared itself the 'Mental Health Capital' and expanded mental health services spanning prevention and early detection to treatment and recovery.

Mayor Lee Jae-jun of Suwon said, "Over the past 30 years, Suwon has set the standard for local government mental health projects," adding, "By combining accumulated experience with artificial intelligence technology, we will ensure mental health services reach citizens in need more easily and conveniently."
