Osan Osaeк Market reduces delivery burden with 'digital distribution center'
Osan City announced on the 26th that it held an opening ceremony for the 'digital distribution center' at the Osan Osaek Market Customer Support Center and commenced operations.
The digital distribution center is a delivery support system jointly established by Osaek Market and CJ Logistics. Following Daejeon's Taepyeong Market, it is the second such facility nationwide and the first among traditional markets in Gyeonggi Province. Osaek Market was selected as the site due to the merchants association's strong commitment to improving logistics infrastructure and significant potential for business expansion based on abundant foot traffic in the station vicinity.
The opening ceremony was attended by Osan Mayor Cho Yong-ho, provincial representatives, the chairman of the National Merchants Federation, and CJ Logistics officials, who introduced the distribution center's operational system and demonstrated the collection process.
When merchants request delivery by phone, a dedicated delivery manager visits the store to collect merchandise, which is then loaded onto CJ Logistics vehicles in the evening and delivered nationwide. This is expected to reduce the inconvenience faced by single-person shop owners who previously had to suspend business operations and visit post offices directly to submit parcels.
Osan Mayor Cho Yong-ho said, "We will establish this stably on site and enhance the competitiveness of Osaek Market."
